The first production photographs of 2:22 – A Ghost Story in New York have arrived, and they find Jasmine Cephas Jones, Martin Marquez, Anna Camp and Finn Jones huddled over a candlelit table, waiting on the clock. Danny Robins’s thriller is in previews at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and opens November 5.
The images are the work of Evan Zimmerman, and they are the first to show the production on its finished set. Earlier this month the company was photographed in the rehearsal room; now Anna Fleischle’s design is in place, an open-plan family home with a glass roof over the kitchen, patterned wallpaper in the hallway and a red digital clock above the door, counting toward the hour in the title.
Everything happens across one dinner party. Jenny, played by Cephas Jones, is convinced the house she has just moved into with her husband Sam (Finn Jones) is haunted. Sam, a committed skeptic, refuses to entertain the idea. Their guests Lauren (Camp) and Ben (Marquez) are dragged into the dispute, and the evening turns into a vigil: nobody goes home until 2:22 has come and gone.
Robins built the play from the same territory as his paranormal podcasts, and it has proved remarkably portable. London has seen it in seven separate West End engagements, two tours have taken it around Britain, and this is its first New York staging. Finn Jones, familiar from Game of Thrones and Iron Fist, is making his New York stage debut as Sam. Cephas Jones was in the original company of Hamilton, Camp is best known on screen for True Blood and the Pitch Perfect films, and Marquez arrives from the West End, where his credits include Billy Elliot The Musical.
Matthew Dunster and Gabriel Vega Weissman share the direction. Opening night is Thursday, November 5, and the limited engagement at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, 121 Christopher Street, runs through January 17, 2027. Seats are on sale on our 2:22 – A Ghost Story page.
