A mirror-ball cat head on black, and one track behind it. The original Broadway cast recording of Cats: The Jellicle Ball has released its first single, Prologue: Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats, while the full album waits on a new date.
The single came out on October 30, the day the album was first due on streaming platforms. That release has been pushed back with no new date announced, BroadwayWorld reported earlier this week.
The album is sung by the full company and produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Alana da Fonseca for Atlantic Records. Tempress Chasity Moore, the production’s Grizabella, announced it from the stage of the Broadhurst Theatre on August 1.
The revival opened at the Broadhurst on April 7. It took three Tony Awards: Best Direction of a Musical for Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, Best Choreography for Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons, and Best Costume Design of a Musical for Qween Jean.
The new track is streaming now: listen to Prologue: Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats on Spotify.
