The Tank lines up five new plays for winter and spring 2027

The Tank Winter/Spring 2027 season artwork The Tank has five new plays booked between January and June 2027, split across its 56-seat black box and its 98-seat proscenium on West 36th Street. Each gets a run of about three and a half weeks, starting with what if everyone lives on January 21.

The titles follow one another in back-to-back blocks through mid-June. All five are new work, and four are world premieres, according to Playbill’s report of the lineup; the company’s own season page does not say which. Tickets are on sale through The Tank, where a single season pass covers all five.

what if everyone lives: January 21 to February 14

Sophie McIntosh’s play opens the season, directed by Ryan Dobrin for Egg & Spoon Theatre Collective. It was made for the 98-seat room, and it uses that room as its setting: a company of recent graduates is performing its own devised version of The Seagull at The Tank when a medical emergency halts the show, and actors and audience are left waiting for news of a friend. The play weighs a doctor’s work against an actor’s. Sixteen performances.

Quand tu sors du feu / When You Leave the Fire / Wakteli Tokhrij Mil Nar: February 4 to 28

Written by Ella Boureau and directed by Bobbin Ramsey, this three-hander folds 1920s cabaret and Andalusi music into a family story. A character named Ella shares the stage with two ghosts, the Tunisian Jewish singer Habiba Msika and Ella’s French-Algerian grandfather, a painter and sculptor. Between them they go back over their closest relationships, the tender parts and the cruel ones.

N*gga B*tch: March 4 to 28

June Carryl’s play, directed by Taylor Reynolds and presented in association with the cell, follows Nambi through a cycle of deaths and returns: an African princess lost on the Atlantic crossing, a suffragette killed by her lover, a Black Panther shot by police after a bombing goes wrong. Each time she wakes, a man in a white coat is waiting, and who he is stays an open question.

PRICK: April 8 to May 2

Serena Berman wrote it and Seonjae Kim directs, with Honigman and Sons and Infinity Soup producing and McKenna Harrington as co-producer. Its central character, Vicky, goes looking for what her sex life is missing and finds an online community built around consensual non-consent fantasy. The deeper she goes, the harder her own past makes it to keep fantasy and reality apart.

Family Jewels LOL: May 20 to June 13

The season closes with Layla Khoshnoudi’s two-hander, directed by Meghan Finn, with Khoshnoudi also in the cast opposite Brett Daniel. Estranged siblings Lena and Ramsey are pulled back together by their father’s death and discover they remember two different families. Grief, inheritance and sexuality all come up, and so does a good deal of dark comedy.

The Tank is at 312 West 36th Street. Before the new season starts, its December calendar brings back Eddie Grey’s CIRC.
