In Arlington, Virginia, Signature Theatre has cast its winter production of The Secret Garden, which plays the MAX from December 8 through February 21, 2027. Quinn Titcomb is Mary Lennox, with Blake Stadnik as Archibald Craven, Claire Leyden as Lily and Jacob Dickey as Dr. Neville Craven.
Ethan Heard directs the Tony-winning musical by Marsha Norman (book and lyrics) and Lucy Simon (music), adapted from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel. Kelly Crandall d’Amboise choreographs and William Yanesh is music director.
Titcomb arrives from the road, with national tours of How the Grinch Stole Christmas (as Cindy Lou), Les Misérables, Waitress and The Sound of Music; Titcomb also played Little Dolly in the world premiere of Dolly: A True Original Musical, and is known to D.C. audiences as Small Alison in Studio Theatre’s Fun Home. Stadnik, who played Jack Damon on NBC’s This Is Us and Billy Lawlor on the 42nd Street tour, has done this show before, at Sacramento’s Broadway At Music Circus. Leyden returns to Signature after Ragtime and was Christine Daaé in the original Off-Broadway company of Masquerade. Dickey’s Broadway credits are Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, Aladdin and Company.
The company also includes Keenan Barrett (Colin), Noah Mutterperl (Dickon), Sarah Chapin (Martha), Catherine Flye (Mrs. Medlock) and Christopher Bloch (Ben Weatherstaff), with Lily Burka, Ben Cherington, Trevor Martin, Abby Middleton, Usman Ali Mughal, Sanchi Pandey, Sarah Anne Sillers and Brandon Springman. AJ Pate and Sumié Yotsukura are swings, and Robby Potter III and Alina Santos understudy Colin and Mary.
Sets are by Reid Thompson, costumes by Beth Goldenberg, lighting by Amith Chandrashaker and sound by Eric Norris.
The show runs about two and a half hours with one intermission and is recommended for ages 8 and up; children under 6 are not admitted. Every performance is captioned, and there is an ASL-interpreted performance on January 22, audio-described performances on January 12 and 23, and a Pride Night on January 15.
