In Sarasota, Florida, Asolo Repertory Theatre has released its first pictures of Singin’ in the Rain, taken in costume ahead of previews in the Mertz Theatre on November 18.
The six pre-production shots put the musical’s three leads among vintage studio lamps, stepladders and packing crates, a fitting backdrop for a story set on a Hollywood lot in 1927. Tyler Hanes plays silent-film star Don Lockwood, Sara Esty is aspiring actress Kathy Selden, and Colin Bradbury is Don’s piano-playing sidekick Cosmo Brown, in a waistcoat and wide checked trousers.
Josh Rhodes directs and choreographs, with Lee Wilkins as associate director and choreographer and Matthew R. Meckes as music director. Ryah Nixon plays Lina Lamont and Jerome Harmann-Hardeman is R.F. Simpson. The design team is Paul Tate dePoo III (scenic and projections), Brian Hemesath (costumes), Kenneth Posner (lighting) and Connor Wang (sound).
Built from the 1952 MGM film, the stage version has a screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and songs by Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown. It opens Asolo Rep’s 2026–27 season and plays through January 2, 2027. We covered the casting announcement; schedules and tickets are on Asolo Rep’s website.
