Axis Company brings back Seven in One Blow for a 25th December

Axis Company's holiday show for kids, Seven in One Blow, or The Brave Little Kid, is back at the company's Sheridan Square theater for its 25th year, with nine performances from December 4 to 20.

The schedule is three weekends: Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm. Randall Sharp, Axis's artistic director, wrote the show and directs it again.

It is the company's own version of the Brothers Grimm story of the tailor who kills seven flies with one swat. Here the hero is a kid in the city who has the boast stitched onto a belt. Everyone who reads it assumes it means seven people, not seven flies, and hands the Kid one impossible job after another. Along a snowy road the Kid runs into a witch, an ogre, a princess and, less predictably, a pea. The audience is expected to join in, and last December's edition ran about 55 minutes.

The script, credited to Sharp and Axis Company, is published by Dramatists Play Service. The 2026 cast and ticket prices have not been posted yet.

Tickets are sold through Axis Company. The theater is at 1 Sheridan Square in the West Village.
