Slanted Floors opens at the Astor Place Theatre: first photos of the Manhattan run

Billy McEntee’s piece began in a real apartment in Greenpoint, where two runs sold out and it picked up a 2026 Drama Desk nomination for Unique Theatrical Experience. For this engagement, Ryan Dobrin’s staging has been reworked for a small room in the Astor Place building, dressed as the apartment and still seating only about 30 people a performance. We covered the move when the return engagement was announced, and again when the run was extended to November 29.

The production photos are by HanJie Chow. They were shared on Instagram in a joint post from Playbill and Kyle Beltran, who plays Teddy opposite Adam Chanler-Berat’s Kaplan, the two roommates whose rent-controlled downtown apartment the audience visits for the evening. The gallery is below.

Clint Ramos designs the set and costumes. Nick Auer lights the show and Dan Kuan Peeples designs the video, and the two share the sound design; Samantha Shoffner is responsible for set decoration and props. Lombardo & Zell Productions, Patrick Catullo, Clint Ramos and No Guarantees Productions produce.

Slanted Floors plays the Astor Place Theatre, 434 Lafayette Street, through Sunday, November 29, 2026. Tickets start at $79.
