The room is still tiny by design: about 30 seats a performance, in a compact space inside the Astor Place building that stands in for the apartment at the heart of the play. Kyle Beltran plays Teddy and Adam Chanler-Berat plays Kaplan, the two roommates the audience visits for the evening. Opening night is Monday, November 2.

Billy McEntee created the piece and Ryan Dobrin directs. It started life in a real Greenpoint apartment, where it sold out and earned a 2026 Drama Desk nomination for Unique Theatrical Experience. “Slanted Floors was intentionally created as an intimate experience,” the producers said.

Clint Ramos designs the set and costumes, with lighting by Nick Auer and video by Dan Kuan Peeples, who share the sound design. Lombardo & Zell Productions, Patrick Catullo, Clint Ramos and No Guarantees Theatrical Productions produce.

Slanted Floors runs at the Astor Place Theatre, 434 Lafayette Street, through Sunday, November 29, 2026. Tickets start at $79, and some include a cup of soup.
