Operation Mincemeat has moved its Broadway closing date again, to Sunday, July 4, 2027. It is the twelfth extension for a musical that opened its Golden Theatre run on a booking of 16 weeks.
The production’s press office, DKC/O&M, announced the new date on November 2, only four weeks after the eleventh extension.
Mailing-list subscribers get the first seats. The “Operation Earlybird” presale opens on Thursday, November 12, and stays open for 24 hours, with tickets at $79, $129 and $179; the first two rows sit in the $79 band. The general sale starts on Friday, November 13, through Telecharge (212-239-6200).
The Broadway company currently comprises Brandon Contreras (Charles Cholmondeley and others), Jessi Kirtley (Jean Leslie and others), Tony nominee Julia Knitel (Ewen Montagu and others), Jeff Kready (Hester Leggatt and others) and Amanda Jill Robinson (Johnny Bevan and others). Robert Ariza, Allison Guinn, Sam Hartley, Gerianne Pérez and Lexi Rabadi are the understudies.
The show is written by SpitLip, the team of David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoë Roberts, and directed by Robert Hastie. Its subject is the real 1943 deception in which British intelligence used a corpse carrying forged papers to mislead the Axis about the Allied invasion plans, told as a mix of farce and spy thriller. Broadway performances began on February 15, 2025; the production went on to four Tony nominations, Best Musical among them, and Jak Malone won Best Featured Actor in a Musical as Hester Leggatt.
The producers also put numbers to the demand. More than 5,000 Broadway ticket buyers, roughly one in 25, have booked for more than one performance, they say, and 205 have bought tickets for ten or more. On September 26 the four productions then running, on Broadway, in the West End, on the UK tour and on the North American tour, played to a combined 9,734 people, the largest single-day total the show has recorded.
In London, the West End production is booking to May 29, 2027 after its 19th extension, and the North American tour opened at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island on September 20.
Operation Mincemeat runs at the Golden Theatre, 252 West 45th Street. For more information, visit the official website.
