Operation Mincemeat, which began Broadway performances at the Golden Theatre with a 16-week engagement on the books, has extended for an eleventh time. Six more weeks carry the run through Sunday, April 25, 2027, and the announcement arrives only three weeks after the tenth extension, which had taken it to March 14.
The new weeks go on sale in two stages. Fans on the production’s mailing list get first call in the “Operation Earlybird” presale, which opens on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and lasts 24 hours, at $79, $129 and $179; the front two rows, the seats the show’s regulars chase, are priced at $79. General sale follows on Friday, October 16, 2026.
Eleven extensions since the first preview on February 15, 2025, is a long way from the limited engagement the producers first announced, and the repeat business behind it is unusual by Broadway standards. According to the production, more than 5,000 Broadway ticket buyers, roughly one in every 25, have booked for more than one performance, and 205 have bought tickets for ten or more.
The company at the Golden is led by Julia Knitel, a Tony nominee whose credits include Dead Outlaw, Beautiful and Bye Bye Birdie, as Ewen Montagu and others, and Jeff Kready (Masquerade, The Great Gatsby, Company) as Hester Leggatt and others. Brandon Contreras plays Charles Cholmondeley and others, Jessi Kirtley plays Jean Leslie and others, and Amanda Jill Robinson plays Johnny Bevan and others. The understudies are Robert Ariza, Allison Guinn, Sam Hartley, Gerianne Pérez and Lexi Rabadi.
New York is now one of four companies playing at once. The West End production has extended into its fifth year; a UK tour, itself recently extended, opened the world tour; and the North American tour began on September 20 with two performances at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, seen by 5,200 people, the largest combined audience the show had yet drawn. On September 26 the four productions played to 9,734 people between them, its biggest single day across every territory. After North America the tour is due in Mexico, China, Australia and New Zealand.
The production is quoting Taffy Brodesser-Akner of The New York Times: “It’s not just the best musical I’ve ever seen; it’s the most rewarding theatrical experience I’ve ever had.”
The musical started at the 77-seat New Diorama Theatre in London in 2019 and has passed 2,000 performances since. It has collected 68 award nominations and 24 wins, including Best Musical at the Olivier Awards, the WhatsOnStage Awards, the BroadwayWorld Theater Fans’ Choice Awards and the Off-West End Awards. On Broadway it received four Tony nominations in 2025, Best Musical among them, and Jak Malone won Best Featured Actor in a Musical as Hester Leggatt, having already won the Olivier in the same category.
Set in 1943, the show recounts a true wartime deception in which British intelligence planted forged papers on a stolen corpse to mislead the enemy. It plays the story as farce and spy thriller at once, with Ian Fleming among the characters.
It is written by the triple Tony-nominated company SpitLip—David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoë Roberts—and directed by Robert Hastie. Avalon produces on Broadway and in the West End, in association with SpitLip. New Diorama Theatre commissioned the piece, The Lowry co-commissioned it, and the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat supported its development.
The Golden Theatre is at 252 West 45th Street. Tickets are sold through Telecharge.com and by phone on 212-239-6200, and the production’s own site is operationbroadway.com.
