The New York company behind Hold On To Your Butts, winner of the 2026 Fringe Encore Series, now turns its homemade method on the holiday movie about a boy left behind at home. Puppets, live projections and sound effects made in full view of the audience carry the whole film in about 60 minutes.

Kristin McCarthy Parker directs. The company is Nick Abeel, Brendan Dalton, Rosa Palmeri and Natalie Rich, with Evan Maltby as the live Foley artist. SoHo Playhouse recommends the show for ages 5 and up.

The show arrives with Fringe notices behind it. The Stage gave it four stars and called it “technically intricate yet endearingly lo-fi,” while the New York Times found “one breathless hour.”

It is one half of a Recent Cutbacks holiday double bill. The company’s Fly, You Fools!, a shot-for-shot send-up of The Fellowship of the Ring for three actors and a Foley artist, joins the Main Stage from December 19, 2026–January 2, 2027.

SoHo Playhouse is at 15 Vandam Street. Dates and tickets are on the SoHo Playhouse website.
