TDF has added four Broadway musicals to the 15th season of its autism-friendly performances, among them the first such performance in the 15-year run of The Book of Mormon, on Sunday, February 28, 2027, at 1 p.m.
All four new dates are Sunday matinees at 1 p.m.:
- The Book of Mormon: February 28, 2027, at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre
- Wanted: March 14, 2027, at the James Earl Jones Theatre
- Hamilton: May 16, 2027, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre
- Wicked: June 13, 2027, at the Gershwin Theatre
Wanted, a new musical, joins the program for the first time. Hamilton and Wicked return after earlier autism-friendly performances; Hamilton gave its first on June 29, 2025.
The four complete a season that has already included Ragtime, Hadestown, The Great Gatsby and Maybe Happy Ending. Two further dates were announced earlier: the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, November 8, at 9:30 a.m., and The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre on Sunday, January 31, 2027, at 1 p.m.
TDF buys every seat in the house for these performances and sells them at a discount to families, schools and groups that include people with autism, sensory disorders, communication disorders or learning disabilities. The shows are adjusted slightly, with jarring sounds reduced and no strobe lighting, and staffed break areas are set up in the lobby. Ahead of each date TDF posts downloadable visual guides, with photographs of the theater and the production, so that audience members know what to expect.
Tickets for the four new dates are not yet on sale; TDF lists them as coming soon and takes sign-ups for ticket alerts at tdf.org. The Radio City performance is on sale now.
TDF, the nonprofit founded in 1968 as the Theatre Development Fund, also runs open-captioned and American Sign Language-interpreted performances.
