Marc Kudisch and Krystal Joy Brown Marc Kudisch, Krystal Joy Brown and Reg Rogers head the cast of Red Bull Theater’s one-night concert of Cole Porter’s Out of This World, a 1950 musical retelling of the Amphitryon myth, at Symphony Space on December 14.

The concert is on Monday, December 14, at 7 p.m. in the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street. Tickets are $77 to $117 through Symphony Space, and the evening is expected to run around two and a half hours.

BroadwayWorld reports that Dana Ivey, Robert Cuccioli, Maryann Plunkett, Laila Robins and Jay O. Sanders will appear as special guests, with more names to follow.

Porter wrote the show as his next Broadway musical after Kiss Me, Kate, to a book by Dwight Taylor and Reginald Lawrence. It takes its plot from Amphitryon, Plautus’s comedy of borrowed identities: Jupiter comes down from Olympus in pursuit of a mortal woman, Helen, takes on her husband’s appearance to win her, and is followed by a suspicious Juno. It opened at the New Century Theatre on December 21, 1950, and ran for 157 performances.

The concert is Red Bull Theater’s annual benefit, which each year picks a musical built on a classical source. Proceeds support the company’s Off-Broadway productions, its Revelation Reading series and its education and access programs, Shakespeare in Schools among them. Red Bull is also at Symphony Space tonight, with its Revelation Reading of The Cenci.
