Masquerade extends for a seventh time, now playing through Memorial Day weekend 2027

The immersive staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera will now run at 218 West 57th Street through Sunday, May 30, 2027, carrying it into Memorial Day weekend and three months past the February 28 close it had been booking to.

Producer Randy Weiner, who created the piece with Lloyd Webber and the Tony-winning director Diane Paulus, credits the audience for the latest weeks. “Seven extensions in, word of mouth continues to drive growing demand,” he said, calling the show the place in New York where audiences “can step into the world of Phantom.”

That world is a building to explore rather than a stage to watch. Small groups of guests follow the story from a masked ball into dressing rooms within arm’s reach of the company, then down through mirrors to the Phantom’s lair beneath the Opéra Populaire. The production has won a Drama Desk Award and an Off-Broadway Alliance Award, and its chandelier is hung with more than 30,000 crystals from Preciosa.

Performances run Tuesday through Sunday evenings, with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. One night stands apart before the new weeks arrive: the second Le Bal Macabre, a Halloween soirée on the set after the October 31 performance, where all-black macabre dress and a Masquerade mask are required.

The score is Lloyd Webber’s original, with lyrics by Charles Hart, additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe and a book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber; the production is presented by arrangement with LW Entertainment. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui choreographs, with scenic design by Scott Pask, costumes by Emilio Sosa, lighting by Ben Stanton, sound by Brett Jarvis and masks by Nicola Formichetti. William Waldrop is music director.

The title role rotates among Nick Cartell, Austin Colby, Quentin Earl Darrington, Derrick Davis, Nicholas Edwards, Kyle Scatliffe and Ryan Vona. Christine is shared by Haile Ferrier, Claire Leyden, Francesca Mehrotra, Addie Morales, Riley Noland and Kaley Ann Voorhees, and Raoul by Travis Keith Battle, Joe Caskey and Dan Hoy.
