Eden Espinosa and Alex Moffat lead an industry reading of Good Table Manners

Eden Espinosa and Alex Moffat will lead an industry reading of Good Table Manners: A Comedy in 7 Courses, a new dark comedy by Adam Morrison, on Thursday, October 29 at the Barrow Group Performing Arts Center, BroadwayWorld reports.

The play runs 90 minutes and unfolds over one dinner that goes steadily wrong. A waiter and a woman at one of his tables clash over small things, a flirtation that misfires, a drink that never arrives and a first course that never comes, until a throwaway remark tips the evening into open war between two strangers, with only one left standing at the end. Under the comedy, Morrison is writing about consent and desire, and about how people behave once the rules of polite modern life stop holding them in check.

Morrison’s earlier plays include Last Call for Monty & Liz and Bait. The reading is directed by Zachary Prince, whose credits include The Goldsmith and Palatable Gay Robot.

Espinosa, a Tony nominee for Lempicka, and Moffat, a former Saturday Night Live cast member who appeared on Broadway in The Cottage, are joined by Mackenzie Barmen and Zach Schanne, with Nate Berry reading the stage directions.

The reading is an industry presentation, and no public performances or further plans for the play have been announced.
