The Sacco and Vanzetti Project gets two free performances at Theater Lab on November 21

A new ensemble-made play about Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti gets two performances at Theater Lab in Midtown on Saturday, November 21, at 2pm and 7pm, and admission is free.

The Sacco and Vanzetti Project was built collectively by a company called The Ensemble, with text by Lauren Holmes and direction by Jaclyn Biskup. Its subject is the case of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, the Italian anarchists whose trial, close to a century ago, became a lightning rod in American arguments over immigration, political radicalism and the courts.

Four performers make up the company: Katie Broad, Paul Budraitis, Nadia Diamond and Jonah O'Hara-David. Nora Smith Marlow designs the set and WhimZee Hanna the lighting, with Cori Diaz as production stage manager.

Two performances, one day: 2pm and 7pm on Saturday, November 21, in Theater Lab's room on the third floor of 357 West 36th Street. There is nothing to buy. Entry is free, and audiences are invited to donate toward the production.

The project is supported in part by Creative Engagement, a regrant program funded by the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts and the Howard Gilman Foundation, and administered by LMCC.

The performances were first reported by BroadwayWorld.
