Daniel Emond, writer of Dream: A Freudian Musical. Photo by Sadie Veach Samantha Pauly is the special guest for Dream: A Freudian Musical, a new show by Daniel Emond that gets two concert performances at Joe’s Pub, on Sundays, November 15 and 22, at 6 p.m.

The concert runs 75 minutes. Emond, a Larson Award winner whose earlier show is Kill The Whale, also performs, as Freud. Ellie Barone plays Sabina, Jordon Bolden plays Jung and Jo Lampert plays S. Spielrein. JT Kaufman is music director. The performances are presented in partnership with YoungArts.

The piece takes place inside a dream. Its subject is Sabina Spielrein, who went from being treated for “hysteria” to practicing psychoanalysis herself; Carl Jung, the physician who treated her and became her lover; and Sigmund Freud, who mentored them both. Emond’s score pulls from sources as far apart as Joanna Newsom, Sam Smith, Wagner and Eminem.

Pauly played Katherine Howard in SIX on Broadway and Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby at the Broadway Theatre. Barone’s credits include Hightown; Lampert’s include Joan of Arc and Transparent.

Joe’s Pub is at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street. Tickets are $42, including the advance service fee, and there is a two-drink or one-food-item minimum per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale through the Public Theater.
