Melis Aker’s Fish has been extended by a week at WP Theater. The co-production with Signature Theatre, which was due to close on October 25, now plays through November 1, 2026.
The extension was announced five days after the play opened on October 11, and it adds a week to the Upper West Side run. The opening notices, gathered in our review roundup for Fish, include praise for the balance Melis Aker keeps between comedy and grief, and for the five actors in Tatiana Pandiani’s production.
The play is set in London in 2016. Seventeen-year-old Karya has never found out what happened to her missing brother, and when her mother’s wild theory about where he went starts to look plausible, she and her best friend set out to test it online, baiting the internet’s darker corners in a way that quickly gets away from them. Aker, who is from Turkey and works between London and New York, writes it as a coming-of-age comedy with something much colder underneath.
Yasmin Ranz-Lind plays Karya, with Alyssa May Gold as Libby, Sara Haider as Isha, Kario Marcel as Jon and Roxanna Hope Radja as Ceyda. The design team is Emmie Finckel (set), Siena Zoë Allen (costumes), Reza Behjat (lighting) and G Clausen (sound). WP Theater and Signature Theatre co-produce, in association with New Light Theater Project, with Noor Theatre as consulting producer.
Fish runs 90 minutes at WP Theater, 2162 Broadway between 76th and 77th Streets. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday at 7pm, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.
Tickets are on sale through our Fish page.
