Nylon Fusion presents the play in association with Axial Theatre, and Ivette Dumeng directs. The company has worked with Shanley before: it premiered his Candlelight.

The company calls the new one a deeply comic fable. Connie is a would-be writer whose marriage is failing and whose life is coming apart, and she goes back to Colorado to face her mother. The visit reopens old damage, from the writing she gave up to a childhood spent under her parents’ unhappy marriage. Nylon Fusion describes it as a play about sex as something handed down from one generation to the next.

The cast is Tonya Cornelisse, Sophia DeMornay-O’Neal and Joey Welsh. Set design is by Elizabeth Chaney, lighting by Lucky Pearto, sound by Andy Evan Cohen and costumes by Janet Mervin. Randall Rodriguez handles fight choreography and Karli Fisher is the stage manager.

Shanley won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play for Doubt: A Parable, and an Academy Award for his Moonstruck screenplay.

Tickets are $47, sold through Eventbrite from Nylon Fusion’s page for the play. The first preview is at 7:30pm, and the theater is at 154 Christopher Street.
