Paranormal Activity extends its Broadway run through February 28, 2027

Tickets for the added weeks, and for every other performance, are on sale now at the August Wilson Theatre box office and through the production's own site, paranormalbroadway.com.

The notices have given the run something to sell on. The New York Times said that seeing it with a crowd "feels like watching a magic show on a roller coaster," Variety wrote that it "delivers more thrills, chills, and screams than Broadway has seen in years," and People kept it to two sentences: "Go ahead and scream. Everyone else will be."

The play is written by Levi Holloway (Grey House) and directed by Felix Barrett (Sleep No More), and tells a new story drawn from the film series rather than restaging any one of the movies. A couple, James and Lou, leave Chicago for London to put their past behind them, and find that what haunts them came along for the move.

Cher Álvarez plays Lou and Travis A. Knight plays James, with Shannon Cochran as Carolanne and Eva Kaminsky as Etheline Cotgrave. The understudies are Caron Buinis, Caroline Hendricks and Michael Holding. All seven except Kaminsky are making their Broadway debuts, each returning to a role already played in the production's earlier North American engagements.

The design team pairs Tony Award nominee Fly Davis (scenic and costume design) with Tony Award winner Chris Fisher on illusions, Anna Watson on lighting, Tony Award winner Gareth Fry on sound and Drama Desk Award winner Luke Halls on video and projections. General management is by Envoy Theatricals, Samuel Dallas and Marty McGuire.

New York is the latest stop on a long route. The piece premiered at Leeds Playhouse in England and transferred to the Ambassadors Theatre in London, where it was nominated for this year's Laurence Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. It went on to sold-out engagements at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, D.C., and American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, then played Toronto's CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre from June 9 to July 5, 2026, and a strictly limited pre-Broadway run at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theatre from July 11 to 30. The West End production resumed at the Ambassadors on August 11, 2026, and is currently booking through November 7, 2026.

Melting Pot produces in association with Paramount Pictures, with Simon Friend, Hanna Osmolska and Ken Davenport at the head of a long producing list that also takes in Blumhouse, Oren Peli and John Gore for Hammer Films; Seaview is executive producer. Paramount Products & Experiences licenses the stage rights.

The source material explains the appetite. Peli wrote and directed the first Paranormal Activity, which Blumhouse and Solana Films brought to the screen and Paramount Pictures released in 2009. It gave the found-footage form a new lease of life, took nearly $200 million worldwide and launched a franchise that has since run to seven feature films.
