Nick Blaemire’s Soon has added a week at The Loft at St. Luke’s. Out of the Box Theatrics’ Off-Broadway premiere of the chamber musical, which had been due to close on November 8, now plays through November 15, 2026.
The extension lands two weeks after the production opened on October 5, and it is the latest stop on a long road for the piece. Soon was first developed and staged at Signature Theatre in Arlington, Virginia, in 2015, and a New York pilot production played the East Village Basement in October 2025.
Blaemire, whose credits include Glory Days on Broadway and Safety Not Guaranteed and Space Dogs Off-Broadway, sets the musical in a world that may be about to end. Charlie, in her twenties, has decided to see it out indoors; Jonah is waiting for her to start living while there is still time. What she has to manage, before the clock runs down, is the simplest act and the hardest one: opening her front door. The score is intimate indie-pop, and the show is about the nerve it takes to chase what you want when nothing feels certain.
Will Blum, whose Broadway credits include Beetlejuice, School of Rock and The Book of Mormon, directs. Ava Delaney plays Charlie, with Mylinda Hull as Adrienne, Mike Millan as Steven and Oliver Richman as Jonah. Jillian Abaya and Ruchir Khazanchi are the understudies.
The creative team is Wiley DeWeese (music supervisor), Andy Callopy (music director), Sean Frank (scenic design), Gina Ruiz (costumes), Paige Seber (lighting), Jordana Abrenica (sound) and Kimi Handa Brown (intimacy director), with Zachary Daniel Jones and Zadokite Wood as associate directors.
The run belongs to the company’s Loft Series, a developmental strand that gives new work a pared-back staging in front of New York audiences so its writers can keep shaping it. Out of the Box Theatrics, which Liz Flemming founded in 2016, produces Soon in association with Bella Vita Entertainment, Dru Margolis and Red Horse LLC. The company recently took a ten-year lease at St. Luke’s Theatre, and its first production in the building was the transfer of Beau the Musical.
