Abigail Barlow returns to SIX as Katherine Howard on November 1 at the Lena Horne Theatre, taking over from Aimie Atkinson, who plays her final performance on October 31. The change comes with the musical’s Broadway run into its last nine weeks: the production closes on January 3, 2027.
Barlow, a Grammy winner, also has a substantial following outside the theater. Her single Heartbreak Hotel passed 20 million streams as an independent release, she counts more than 2.3 million followers on TikTok and over 75 million Spotify streams, and she has had a Forbes 30 Under 30 nod. She is also one half of Barlow and Bear, the writing partnership behind The Unofficial Bridgerton Musical album and the songs for Disney’s Moana 2; the production describes the pair as the youngest, first and only female composing team to write all the songs for a Disney film.
Atkinson, who leaves at the end of October, was a member of the original UK cast of the show. Barlow joins Najah Hetsberger as Catherine of Aragon, Chloe Tucker Caine as Anne Boleyn, Natalie Paris, another original UK company member, as Jane Seymour, Olivia Donalson as Anna of Cleves and Stephanie Jae Park as Catherine Parr. Lauryn Adams, Sierra Fermin, Julia McLellan and Aiyana Smash are the alternates.
SIX opened on October 3, 2021, at what was then still the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and has since been seen by more than 2 million people. That makes it the longest-running show in the history of the Lena Horne, the 39th-longest run in Broadway history and the seventh-longest-running Broadway show to have started life in the UK. Its 35 awards include the 2022 Tony Award for Best Original Score and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.
The musical is written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, and co-directed by Moss with Jamie Armitage, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille. Kenny Wax, Wendy & Andy Barnes, George Stiles and Kevin McCollum produce.
Barlow’s arrival falls just ahead of the production’s Broadway Spirit Week on November 9–13. Away from New York, the national tour picks up again in Baltimore on October 25.
The Lena Horne Theatre is at 256 West 47th Street. Tickets for the remaining performances are available on the SIX tickets page.
