Nicholas Christopher takes over as Bobby Darin in Just in Time at Circle in the Square on November 10, the third actor to inherit a part built for and first played by Jonathan Groff.
The schedule is set out on the production's own website. Jeremy Jordan, who has played Darin since April, gives his final performance as Darin on October 18. Matthew Morrison, who bridged the gap between Groff and Jordan in the spring, then returns for three weeks, from October 20 to November 8, before Christopher steps in. No end date has been given for his run.
He comes to the role off a Tony nomination for Anatoly Sergievsky in the Broadway revival of Chess. Before that he played Adolfo Pirelli in the 2023 Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, taking over the title role for three weeks in early 2024, and he has played both George Washington and Aaron Burr in Hamilton and John Thomas in the 2017 revival of Miss Saigon. Off-Broadway, he was Seymour Krelborn in the Little Shop of Horrors revival at the Westside Theatre.
The rest of the company is turning over on a similar timetable. Ariana Madix continues as Connie Francis through November 22, and Whitney Leavitt is listed as Sandra Dee from December 1 to January 10.
Directed by Alex Timbers, with a book by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver, the musical follows Darin from a childhood shadowed by a heart condition to the top of the charts, with the big band on stage and the theater remade as a nightclub. It began previews on March 28, 2025 and opened on April 23, 2025, so Christopher arrives some nineteen months after the first preview.
Just in Time runs at Circle in the Square, 235 West 50th Street.
