Jennifer Simard extends her Schmigadoon! run through November 29

Schmigadoon! key art Jennifer Simard will stay on as Mildred Layton in Schmigadoon! at the Nederlander Theatre through November 29.

Simard stepped into the role in September, taking over from Ana Gasteyer after Gasteyer’s final performance, and arrived straight from Death Becomes Her. The extension was first reported by BroadwayWorld.

She is a three-time Tony nominee: as Helen Sharp in Death Becomes Her, Sarah in the Company revival and Sister Mary Downey in Disaster!. Her other Broadway credits run from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Shrek the Musical and Sister Act to Hello, Dolly!, Mean Girls and Once Upon a One More Time. Off-Broadway, she originated roles in Forbidden Broadway: SVU, The Thing About Men and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.

Alex Brightman and Sara Chase lead the show as Josh Skinner and Melissa Gimble, a couple who stray into a town where everyone sings and the only bridge out goes nowhere. Escape takes true love. Schmigadoon! won four Tony Awards, Best Musical among them.

Simard is not the only new face this fall. Juan Pablo Di Pace makes his Broadway debut as Doc from October 24.

Tickets for Schmigadoon! at the Nederlander Theatre are on sale on our Schmigadoon! show page.
