Carla Gugino and Fred Hechinger join Sam Rockwell in A View from the Bridge at La MaMa

Key art for A View from the Bridge at the Ellen Stewart Theatre at La MaMa Carla Gugino, Fred Hechinger, Tom Pecinka and Riley Prior round out the company around Sam Rockwell and Alfred Molina in A View from the Bridge, the Arthur Miller revival that starts a 13-week run at the Ellen Stewart Theatre at La MaMa on November 27.

Gugino takes the role of Beatrice, wife to Rockwell's Eddie Carbone, the Brooklyn longshoreman at the center of the play. Hechinger and Pecinka are Rodolpho and Marco, Beatrice's cousins, who come over from Italy in search of a new life, and Prior is Catherine, the niece Eddie has brought up as a daughter. Molina, announced earlier with Rockwell, plays Alfieri.

The new names come with one departure: Marin Ireland has left the production because of scheduling conflicts.

Miller's tragedy turns on what happens when Catherine falls for Rodolpho. Eddie's protectiveness hardens into jealousy, and it carries him toward a betrayal that breaks apart his family and the immigrant neighborhood around it, a story the playwright set in 1950s Brooklyn and used to weigh loyalty against desire, and what the American Dream promises against what it costs.

Neil Pepe directs, with sets by three-time Tony winner Scott Pask, costumes by Sarah Laux, lighting by John Torres and sound by two-time Tony nominee Palmer Hefferan. Casting is by Taylor Williams, and Baseline Theatrical is general manager. Rockwell is also producing, with Mark Berger; the producing company is Play Hooky Productions.

The engagement brings the play back to Off-Broadway for the first time since 1965, when Ulu Grosbard directed it at the Sheridan Square Playhouse with a cast that included Robert Duvall and Jon Voight, and with Dustin Hoffman as assistant director.

Performances begin November 27, and opening night is Sunday, December 13. La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre is at 66 East 4th Street. Tickets for A View from the Bridge are on sale now.
