Billy Crystal's 860 extends six weeks at the Imperial Theatre, through February 14

The producers put the extension down to popular demand, and it arrives less than a week after a strong set of opening notices (our review roundup has the detail). Laura Collins-Hughes of The New York Times called it “brilliantly funny,” and Charles McNulty of the Los Angeles Times described it as “Broadway magic.” Run as originally announced, the engagement would have ended after the holidays; the new final week runs through Valentine’s Day weekend instead.

For most of the added weeks, the schedule keeps the shape it has now: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 3 p.m. Two weeks differ. In the week ending January 17, Sunday has two performances, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. In the closing week, ending February 14, Wednesday adds a 7 p.m. performance after the 2 p.m. matinee, and the final Sunday performance moves up to 1 p.m.

Crystal wrote the play and Scott Ellis directs. Written after the Palisades fires destroyed his home, it has Crystal looking back over his family and his career, and at how laughter got them through the hardest stretches. Marc Shaiman supplies original music and adaptations, with sets by Scott Pask, lighting by Jen Schriever, sound by Dan Moses Schreier and video by Hana S. Kim and Kylee Loera. Davin De Santis is the production stage manager. Janice Crystal, James L. Nederlander, Larry Magid and Face Productions produce.

Tickets are sold through Telecharge, by phone at 212-239-6200, and at the Imperial Theatre box office at 249 West 45th Street, which is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. The rush and lottery program announced before previews began also applies: $59 in-person rush at the box office on the day of each performance, limited to two tickets per person; a $59 digital rush on the day and a $59 digital lottery the day before, both at rush.telecharge.com; and, for sold-out performances, a digital cancellation line at $99 a ticket that forms the day before.
