The play goes into a Shubert theater that has not been named yet. No dates, prices or on-sale details have been announced. Kenny Leon, who directed the world premiere at The Shed in 2025, directs again. The news broke as an exclusive on Broadway.com.

Hanks plays Bert and O’Hara plays Carmen. The rest of the cast and the full creative team will follow.

The play grows out of Hanks’s own short fiction. Near the end of the 21st century, Bert Allenberry sets out to rewrite his future by traveling into the past. He lands on the same day at the 1939 New York World’s Fair in Queens, again and again. Each trip teaches him that the years ahead are shaped less by machines than by who we choose to love.

It is Hanks’s first Broadway appearance in more than 14 years. His debut there, in Lucky Guy, brought him a Tony nomination. O’Hara won her Tony for The King and I and has eight further nominations, among them Days of Wine and Roses, Kiss Me, Kate and The Light in the Piazza. Leon won his for A Raisin in the Sun and chairs the board of the American Theatre Wing.

“There’s no time like the present to further explore this story of love and time travel from Glossman and Hanks,” Leon said in a statement.
