Key art for Elektra, directed by Daniel Fish, at Theatre for a New Audience Tina Benko will play the title role in Theatre for a New Audience's Elektra, directed by Daniel Fish, at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn from November 10 to December 6.

Rebecca Naomi Jones plays Chrysothemis, Sally Wingert is Clytemnestra, Cricket Brown is Orestes and Michael Rudko is Aegisthus. The chorus is Catherine Brookman, Sophia Rose Byrd, Mingjia Chen, Tina Fabrique, Maya Lagerstam and Tanner Porter. Fabrique also understudies Clytemnestra, and Amirah Joy Lomax understudies the chorus.

The production uses Anne Carson's translation of Sophokles, with choral songs composed by Ted Hearne. The company bills it as the first major New York revival of the tragedy in three decades.

Benko was recently the standby for Rose Byrne and Kelli O'Hara in Fallen Angels. Her other Broadway credits include The Rose Tattoo, The Crucible and The Cherry Orchard. Jones returns to Fish after his 2019 Broadway revival of Oklahoma!, which brought her a Drama Desk nomination, and her other Broadway credits include Hadestown and Stereophonic. Rudko is back at the company, where his earlier credits include Titus Andronicus, As You Like It, Love's Labour's Lost and Henry V. Wingert has appeared in more than 90 productions at the Guthrie Theater.

Elektra has spent years mourning a father killed by her mother, Clytemnestra, and her mother's lover, Aegisthus. When her brother Orestes comes home, the two set out to settle the account.

Evening performances are at 7:30pm, with 2pm weekend matinees from November 21. The Polonsky Shakespeare Center is at 262 Ashland Place in Brooklyn. Tickets are on sale now through Theatre for a New Audience.
