The first production photos from David Javerbaum’s comedy told by dogs are out, three days before the show opens at the Triad Theater on the Upper West Side.
Jeremy Daniel shot the pictures during performances of The Dog Show: Come. Sit. Stay. They show the company of four, Gizel Jiménez, A.J. Shively, Jordan Matthew Brown and Angela Reed, at microphones and music stands in front of a big screen of dogs. A poodle in a tiara is one of them.
The play is a set of monologues, each spoken from a dog’s point of view: bath time, a head out of the car window, life as a police dog. David Javerbaum wrote it. He is a 13-time Emmy winner, a former head writer and executive producer of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and the author of An Act of God. Richard Israel directs.
Previews began on October 13 at the Triad Theater, 158 West 72nd Street. Opening night is Sunday, October 18, and the limited run is scheduled through November 29. Tickets cost $49 to $99. Every performance also has two pairs of Pooch Seats at $129, which pair a chair for the owner with a pet bed for the dog.
Mark F. Kaplan/30 Minutes From Broadway Entertainment produces in association with Julius Gaudio. Casting is by Stephanie Klapper, and Aidan Cleary and Labhaoise Magee of Fair Play Productions are the general managers. The performance schedule is on the production’s website.
The show was first announced in September, and the cast followed earlier this month.
