Just in Time has settled who plays Sandra Dee between Carrie St. Louis's exit and Whitney Leavitt's arrival: company swing Tristen Buettel takes the role for three weeks from October 20, and Sadie Dickerson, who made her Broadway debut in the show, returns for a three-week encore from November 10.
When the musical announced its fall Bobby Darin handover at the end of September, the weeks between the two Sandra Dees were left open. They are now filled, and the casting at Circle in the Square Theatre runs in step with the title role through the new year. Carrie St. Louis plays her last performance on Sunday, October 18, the same day Jeremy Jordan leaves as Darin. Buettel then plays Sandra Dee from Tuesday, October 20, through Sunday, November 8, which is exactly the span of Matthew Morrison's three-week return as Darin.
Dickerson begins on Tuesday, November 10, the night Nicholas Christopher takes over as Darin, and Whitney Leavitt follows on Tuesday, December 1, for a six-week engagement that ends on Sunday, January 10, 2027.
For Dickerson it is a return to the production in which she made her Broadway debut. Originally from Austin, Texas, she graduated from Missouri State University with a BFA in musical theater and a certificate in acting for the camera, and she has a leading role as Skylar Stone in Rose Hill, an upcoming Prime Video series.
Buettel is already part of the company as a swing, so the three weeks go to a performer who knows the staging from the inside. Buettel's Broadway credits include Boop! The Musical and Bad Cinderella, with Jersey Boys Off-Broadway and on national tour, and regional credits that include Frozen and Anne of Green Gables, along with work at The Muny, the Alliance Theatre and MT Wichita.
The changes come to a production in unusually sound commercial shape. Just in Time began previews on March 31, 2025, opened on April 26, 2025, and remains the only musical of the 2024–25 season to have recouped its capitalization. It has added a Thursday matinee this fall, so the week now runs Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm and Friday and Saturday at 8pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm, Thursday at 1pm and Sunday at 3pm.
Developed and directed by Alex Timbers, the show follows Darin from teen idol to international star, staged as a nightclub evening with a live band and his hits, among them Beyond the Sea, Mack the Knife, Splish Splash and Dream Lover. The book is by Warren Leight and Isaac Oliver, and the producers are Tom Kirdahy, Robert Ahrens and John Frost.
Performances are on sale through Sunday, February 7, 2027, from $69, including the nightclub floor and banquette seating close to the stage. Tickets are sold at the theater's box office at 235 West 50th Street and on the production's official website.
