Three members of the London company of Jamie Lloyd's Evita will cross to Broadway with Rachel Zegler when Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical opens at the Winter Garden Theatre next spring. Tickets are on sale now.
Diego Rodriguez will play Che and James Olivas will play Juan Perón, both repeating the roles they took at the London Palladium. Rodriguez was nominated for an Olivier Award for the performance. Olivas makes his Broadway debut in it.
Bella Brown transfers as The Mistress, a performance that brought her a WhatsOnStage Award nomination, and stays on as the alternate Eva Perón. She will play Eva at certain performances during the run.
Ángel Lozada joins the company as Agustín Magaldi. He appeared on Broadway in Bad Cinderella and won a Lucille Lortel Award for Oratorio for Living Things at Signature Theatre and Ars Nova.
The ensemble is Giuseppe Bausilio, Mely Berdion, Brandon Borkowsky, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, Grace Conrad, Christian Jesús Galvis, Tommy Gedrich, Sydney Jones, Natasha Leaver, Maggie Likcani, Mireia Mambo, Sebastian Martinez, Justice Moore, Pepe Muñoz, Julio Rey, Ken San Jose, Victor Carrillo Tracey, Damani Van Rensalier and J'Kobe Wallace. The full creative team, and the casting of The Child, will be announced later.
Previews begin on the evening of Saturday, February 27, 2027, and opening night is Thursday, March 25, 2027, at the Winter Garden Theatre, 1634 Broadway. Tickets are on sale now through Telecharge, and the full performance schedule is on the production’s own site.
The booking follows Jamie Lloyd’s production of Much Ado About Nothing, which plays a limited 10-week engagement at the same theater from Saturday, October 31.
Zegler won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Eva Perón at the Palladium last summer. The production took a second Olivier, Best Musical and Best Musical Performance at the London Standard Theatre Awards, and five WhatsOnStage Awards including Best Musical Revival. Lloyd first staged Evita at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2019.
The musical follows Eva Perón from poverty to the center of Argentine political life, and its score includes “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” “Oh What A Circus,” “Another Suitcase in Another Hall” and the Oscar-winning “You Must Love Me.” The London cast recording, with Zegler, is streaming.
Evita is produced on Broadway by Jamie Lloyd for The Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, by arrangement with LW Entertainment. 101 Productions, Ltd. and Jeff Klein are the general managers.
