Photo by Matthew Murphy and Evan Zimmerman Rema Webb takes over as Madame Giry in the North American tour of The Phantom of the Opera on November 10, joining the company at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City as the tour heads into its second year.

Rema Webb arrives in the middle of the Oklahoma City engagement, which runs November 4–15, and stays with the company as it moves on to Tulsa and Kansas City, then into Texas for the winter. Madame Giry is the Opéra Populaire’s ballet mistress, the one figure in the house who knows more about the Phantom than she lets on. The role is currently played by Lisa Vroman, according to the production’s cast page.

Webb’s Broadway credits run from The Lion King, Ragtime and The Color Purple to The Book of Mormon, Fat Ham and Hell’s Kitchen, and on screen she has appeared in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Central Park. She also founded and runs On Broadway Performing Arts Training Program, which works with performers aged 10 to 18.

The tour is the new production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical produced by Cameron Mackintosh and LW Entertainment, based on the version now running at His Majesty’s Theatre in London. It keeps Maria Björnson’s original designs, with direction by Seth Sklar-Heyn based on Harold Prince’s original staging. Isaiah Bailey plays the Phantom, Jordan Lee Gilbert is Christine Daaé and Daniel Lopez is Raoul, with Midori Marsh as Carlotta and Melo Ludwig as Meg Giry. The company is at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts through October 18, then plays The Smith Center in Las Vegas from October 21 to November 1 before it reaches Oklahoma City.
