LCT3's Reading Series returns with new plays by Shayan Lotfi, Avery Deutsch and Goldie Patrick

Kate Cortesi and J.T. Rogers in conversation at an earlier evening of LCT3’s Reading Series Lincoln Center Theater's LCT3 is bringing back its Reading Series at the Claire Tow Theater, starting on Monday, October 19, 2026 with You Be Good by Shayan Lotfi, picked for the series by Samuel D. Hunter.

The idea is simple and generous. Established writers in LCT's orbit each choose a play by a writer new to the company, and every evening is a one-off: the two playwrights talk on stage first, and then the new play is read.

After Lotfi, the fall line-up continues on Monday, November 2 with The Age of Mary by Avery Deutsch, selected by Martyna Majok, and on Monday, December 7 with Blood Sisters by Goldie Patrick, selected by Dominique Morisseau. Every reading starts at 6:30pm. Deutsch's play won the 2025 Neukom Playwriting Award, as we noted when LCT launched the Helen Gurley Brown Theater Lab.

Last season's series was curated by six LCT alumni: Sarah Ruhl, Ayad Akhtar, J.T. Rogers, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Marco Ramirez and Lynn Nottage. Between December 2025 and June 2026 it presented Three Weeks in Paris by Christina Anderson, Ten Grand by Kate Cortesi, Work of Devotion by Miranda Rose Hall, Sycamore by Nicholas Kaidoo, creation stories and all the important importants by Mfoniso Udofia and Trip Around the Sun by Jake Brasch. Udofia's play has since had its full LCT3 production.

Seats are by RSVP. Reservations for You Be Good are open on the LCT website, which also carries an interest list for the November and December readings. The series is supported by the Judith Champion Playwright's Vision Fund for LCT3 and Mel Litoff.
