Jeanna de Waal and Martin Landry complete the Broadway company of It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play

Key art for It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play on Broadway It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play has filled the last two places in its Broadway company a week before its first preview: Jeanna de Waal and Martin Landry will stand by for the principal roles at the Broadhurst Theatre, where performances begin on Wednesday, November 4.

The two standbys, reported by Broadway News and Playbill, join the five principals announced earlier: Andrew Rannells as George Bailey, Megan Hilty as Mary Bailey, Tituss Burgess as the angel Clarence, Harry Hamlin as Mr. Potter and Lisa Rinna as Violet, with Hamlin and Rinna also playing other roles. Our earlier report has the full detail of that casting.

De Waal is best known on Broadway for the title role in Diana, which she originated at La Jolla Playhouse before taking it to the Longacre Theatre, and she was most recently a standby for Mrs. Lovett and the Beggar Woman in the 2023 revival of Sweeney Todd. Landry made his Broadway debut in Oh, Mary!, playing Mary’s Husband’s Assistant and Kyle from September 16 to November 16, 2025, and he remains with that production as an understudy.

Joe Landry’s adaptation presents the 1946 Frank Capra film, itself drawn from Philip Van Doren Stern’s story The Greatest Gift, as a 1940s radio broadcast, complete with a live Foley artist and holiday carols. It was first staged at the Stamford Center for the Arts in Connecticut in 1996, so this engagement is its Broadway premiere three decades later. Jerry Zaks directs, with sets and costumes by Santo Loquasto, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Palmer Hefferan and music direction by Andy Einhorn. Casting is by Taylor Williams.

The lead producers are Seaview, Wagner Johnson Productions, No Guarantees Productions and Broadway & Beyond Theatricals. The run is strictly limited: opening night is Wednesday, November 18, and the final performance is Sunday, January 3, 2027. Tickets are sold through Telecharge, and more information is on the production’s official website.
