David Yazbek releases Four Songs From Dead Outlaw, a full-band EP, on November 16

Four Songs From Dead Outlaw EP artwork, David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna David Yazbek has gone back to the score of Dead Outlaw. His EP Four Songs From Dead Outlaw comes out on streaming services on November 16, the first release under a new deal with ECR Music Group’s Meridian imprint.

Yazbek announced the deal on Instagram. The Meridian imprint will also release a remastered deluxe edition of his album Evil Monkey Man and a new studio album, but the EP is coming out first. It has full-band recordings of four songs from the show, made with co-writer Erik Della Penna and producer Dean Sharenow, and played by the musicians who first recorded them.

Dead Outlaw, with music and lyrics by Yazbek and Della Penna and a book by Itamar Moses, tells the true story of Elmer McCurdy, a turn-of-the-century outlaw who became much more famous after his death than he ever was in life. David Cromer directed it. The show opened Off-Broadway with Audible Theater at the Minetta Lane Theatre and transferred to the Longacre Theatre in 2025, with Andrew Durand as McCurdy. The Broadway run ended after 73 performances and earned a Tony nomination for Best Musical.

The release date is also the opening night of Yazbek’s residency at 54 Below. He and his full band are playing four concerts there, starting on November 16.
