Teatro SEA, the Latino theater company for young audiences, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a gala on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Trinity Commons, honoring Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Miranda family.
The award recognizes the family's contributions to the arts and to Puerto Rican culture, and their part in carrying Latiné stories to a world stage. The evening runs 6pm to 10pm at Trinity Commons, 76 Trinity Place, overlooking Trinity Church Wall Street: a cocktail reception and seated dinner, performances from Teatro SEA artists and its Children's Choir, and possibly guest Broadway performers, followed by the awards. Patron tickets are $350, covering dinner, the entertainment and an open bar.
Teatro SEA describes itself as the nation's only Latino children's theater. It started in Puerto Rico before settling in New York, and it works in bilingual theater, music and puppetry.
The anniversary season is also a homecoming. Teatro SEA's mainstage at The Clemente Center, 107 Suffolk Street on the Lower East Side, reopens after more than two and a half years of renovation work on the building. “This season is much more than an anniversary—it is a homecoming,” said founder and artistic director Manuel A. Morán. Its centerpiece is the world premiere of Telenovela Dreams, an original musical by Morán, Jaime Lozano and Manuel Calzada, running March 19–May 16, 2027. A second anniversary gala follows in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, on December 19.
Tickets and sponsorships are on the Teatro SEA website.
