In Chicago, Kowalski has added two weeks at Lookingglass Theatre Company and will now play through November 8, 2026, with Johnny Galecki as Tennessee Williams opposite Jacob Moskovitz as a young Marlon Brando.
The new play by Gregg Ostrin, directed by Colin Hanlon, had been due to close on October 25, 2026. Lookingglass says ticket demand prompted the extension, which keeps the production at the company’s home in the historic Water Tower Water Works, 163 E Pearson St., at the corner of Michigan Avenue.
The play is set across a single evening in Provincetown in 1947 and imagines the first meeting between Williams and Brando, at the moment the playwright was searching for the actor who would reshape A Streetcar Named Desire. Mixing the record with invention, it looks at ambition, art, desire and how a landmark of American drama came to be made.
Galecki is best known as Leonard Hofstadter on CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, a role that brought him Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations, and he won a Theatre World Award for his Broadway debut in The Little Dog Laughed. Moskovitz recently starred in Elle, the Amazon prequel series to Legally Blonde. The company also includes Alison Cimmet as Margo Jones, Reece dos Santos as Pancho and Ellie Ricker as Jo, a role Ricker played in the play’s recent Off-Broadway production.
“Lookingglass has always been a home for collaboration, transformation, and bold new choices, and we are so proud to partner on this production,” said artistic directors Ericka Ratcliff and David Catlin. “The cast is delivering powerhouse, unforgettable performances night after night, and we are thrilled to add two additional weeks to the run.”
Producing director David Schwimmer pointed to the star’s roots in the city: “Chicago native Johnny Galecki has a deep, long-standing relationship with Chicago theater and we’re proud to be part of his homecoming with Kowalski, alongside Jacob Moskovitz and the rest of this stellar cast.”
Tickets for the added performances went on sale at 10am on Friday, October 9, priced from $54, at lookingglasstheatre.org and by phone at 312.337.0665. The production is part of the Lookingglass 26/27 Membership and Subscription Series.
